











Brittan A. Motley
Motley is an accomplished baseball player from the Kansas City area and co-founder of
the Diamond Padres Mini Camp and continued his career with the Padres Organization
until 2000.
After baseball, Brittan earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Telecommunications
Management (Computer Science) from DeVry University. Immediately after college, he
was employed by Health Midwest/Hospitals Corporations of America and is currently
employed in the Data Operations Center for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.
Brittan’s passion for the game and love for teaching has fueled him to devote his time
in developing strong baseball fundamentals in Kansas City’s youth.
Don B. Motley
Motley’s baseball career began in 1952, when the managed the American Legion’s
first African-American baseball team. In addition, he was a professional scout for the
New York/San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals for more
than 26 years. During that period, Motley was responsible for securing professional
contracts for players such as Ray Sadecki and Frank White. Motley is the co-founder of
the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and has served as the Executive Director for over
14 years. Motley, affectionately known by many as “Coach”, has coached and managed
in the Ban Johnson League for 40 years. His vast experience both on and off the field
has greatly influenced his life, allowing him to instruct and inspire hundreds of young
men throughout his career. Currently, Motley serves as manager of the Milgrams
Mustangs and is a member of the Ban Johnson League’s Hall of Fame. Motley’s dream
is to bring baseball back to the inner city by teaching youth the love of the game. Since
2004, he has worked extensively with the Boys & Girls Clubs (Reviving Baseball in the
Inner City Program) and helped establish the “Coach Don Motley’s Bat-a-Kid In” fund
to help children who cannot afford to play in an organized league.
Frank White
White spent 3 seasons as manager of the Wichita (AA) Wranglers from 2004-2006.He
spent 2002-03 in the Royals front office as Special Assistant to the GM and managed
Peoria in the Arizona Fall League in 2003. White began his coaching career in the Red
Sox organization as manager of the Gulf Coast Rookie team in 1992 and then spent 3
seasons (1994-96) as the Red Sox first base coach before rejoining the Royals. He served
as the club's Community Outreach Representative until he took over as first base
coach during the 1997 campaign, a position he held through the 2001 season. White was
one of the most decorated second basemen in baseball history during his 18-year playing
career with the Royals. He won 8 Gold Gloves and was a 5-time All-Star and 2-time
Royals Player of the Year. The Royals played in 7 post seasons during his career,
including 2 World Series. White was named ALCS MVP in 1980, helping lead Kansas
City to its first-ever World Series appearance. His number 20 was retired by the Royals
as he was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 1995. A statue was erected in his
honor in 2004. The Kansas City native graduated from Lincoln High and was the first
graduate of the experimental Royals Academy to be invited to big league Spring
Training with the Royals in 1973.
Ronald Stevenson
Stevenson has been a resident of Kansas City, Missouri most of his life and has been a
member of Sheffield Family Life Church for nine years. Also, he is a father of three
sons; Ronnie, Brian, and Rafeal. His son Brian played professional baseball with the San
Angelo Colts, of San Angelo, Texas. Ronnie graduated from Lincoln High School in May
of 1974 and went on to earn his Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education
degree from Alcorn State University. Currently, he is the Assistant Director of
Purchasing / Receiving at the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City.
Also, he has been the Assistant Head Baseball Coach at Lincoln Preparatory Academy
since 1985 and has held various coaching and management positions in leagues such as
the Ban Johnson and Missouri 3&2 leagues. In addition, Ronnie is the R.B.I Lead
Coaching Instructor and the R.B.I Winter Baseball Academy Director.

Melvin Thompson
Playing Experience - Melvin is a 25+ year Semi-pro baseball veteran and is presently
playing in the Men’s Senior Baseball League (MSBL). He previously participated in the
Stan Musial League and various American Amateur Baseball Congress Leagues.
Coaching - He has been coaching amateur baseball for 25 + years. Currently, he is
coaching in the Kansas City, Missouri RBI League as the Manager of the Diamond
Masterz Knights and a coach of the Junior RBI select team. He also coached in Frank
White, Inter-City Amateur Athletic Association (ICAAA), KCMO 3&2 and various
American Amateur Baseball Congress Leagues.
Successes - In 2006, Melvin won a USSSA Missouri State Class A Championship, RBI
League Championship and a Tournament Championship. In 2007, he added to his
successes by winning the RBI Tournament Championship.
